Oh, no. This was our first ever show. We will be going to her breed national specialty show in Michigan in May though, it will be neat to see a lot of Wirehaired Vizslas in one place. And I'm looking forward to her breeder getting to see her again, I know she'll be proud of how she's turning out...

Thanks all for the nice comments. I'm still on cloud nine this morning, can you believe they make you go to WORK after such an achievement? Not fair!!

She is gorgeous! I had to show my dad the pics of her. He's been talking about getting another hunting breed sometime after Trey's gone and Summer and I are moved back out. He's always favored the pointers but wants something different than an English Pointer this time.
She's stunning!

Wow, you got a CH on the first show, ever? I've never heard of such a thing!
Many congratulations to you and your stunning dog

You can't champ in one show in AKC because you need at least 2 major wins. You can champ in one weekend, though if the wins are big enough. Just clarification. I'm not so up on UKC requirements to champ.

I don't know AKC, but the UKC is easier I'm sure. With a rare breed like hers, she can win 25 points per show (4 or 5 shows per weekend). That's 10 points for her class, in this case female, unfinished, between 6 months and a year. Then 15 points for best of breed, which comes automatically because there's no competition.
She needs 100 points, which she basically gets for showing up, though the judge can and will withhold those ribbons for the only dog if they think she's not worthy. So she got her points, oh and they have to be from different judges too which they were, but she needed three wins against competition. Since there were no other HWVs in the shows, she has to get those in the gundog group. She must place in the group over another dog and that counts as a competition win. This is where she really did great. There were seven breeds represented this weekend in the gundog group, and Winnie placed 2nd, 3rd, 2nd and 2nd in the four shows she was in. The first place in the group all four shows was a Springer Spaniel who went on to win Best in Show twice. |

Winnie is pretty amazing. I have never seen a wire haired Viszla--stunning dog.
