Raws and other chews for 3-6 months

I'd love some ideas for edible, slowly destructable chews for dogs under 6 months. Most chews are only made for adult teeth.

I've been giving Finn a Nylabone Edible bone every few days, but he breaks through them quickly, and with his training treats, it's a lot of treat.

I don't feed raw, but I'm willing to look at raw options for the odd chew treat. What raw bones are good as a chew for a puppy that's about 10 pounds? Also, what's the cleanest way to serve them, for both Finnegan and I? Ideally, I'd like to feed it in his crate, but I assume I should remove everything else, blankets, toys, etc to avoid contamination?

Yes, remove all blankets, toys, etc from his crate when feeding him raw.

Chicken wings are good. Hmm, at 4 months old with Blaze he was getting chicken quarters by then. You might try Turkey Necks. Sometimes they are cut into smaller pieces (the size of the peices you by here would be fine for him. About 3-5") and sometimes they are the whole neck, which you could give him that then save the rest for the next day.

I know my local pet supply store has a fridge full of RMBs. I should ask them as well, next time I'm in.

Turkey necks are awesome, bigger than chicken necks (so he can't swallow them whole by accident) but still soft enough bone that it's easy for beginners.

I would personally stay away from the denser weight bearing bones, at least until he's gotten the hang of things

Also, BULLY STICKS. They smell to high heaven unless you get the washed ones, but they are GOOD chews! One of the thicker varieties, about 7" long, will last Sierra at least an hour to get through entirely, and she's a good chewer.

Edit to add: If you're having trouble finding turkey necks, Tollden Farms packages some (they're huge, in a 4lb bag), and they're out of Kemptville, so I know lots of places in Ottawa carry it. If they carry the food, they can get you the bones, even if they don't have it in stock. Good luck!

Thanks Nilly! I heard bully sticks were good, but wasn't sure if they were okay for puppy teeth.

Picked him up a pack of three raw lamb shanks, they're a good size for his mouth. I also got him a smoked hambone to try. He's currently gnawing on the smoked hambone, and I'll give him a lamb shank to try tomorrow. He's already tried a turkey neck and loved it! I had no camera though, so I'm pretending the lamb shank is his first raw and getting pics of it tomorrow.
