It's hard to make a choice... We went to the SPCA to see what was available, they had a really cute lab female but they asked for family with children older than 7 yo. Finally, my son fell in love with... a black pug. He is purebred, 10 months old, potty train and he is very very good with the kids.
He is part of our family now. We will wait few more years for a bigger dog, when the kids will be older. Thanks for all the answers. Abiqa

Glad you went rescue ....a pug is a far cry from a Boxer or a Lab ! Think Golden when you're ready to get a large dog ! Check out the blog below my siggie !

Glad you found your new family member!!
Pugs aren't as large as the two breeds for sure, but they do share some similar personality traits to both, which is neat... I think they remind me alot of boxers....so do bostons! CONGRATS S

Boxers tend to be more protective of their families. Correct me if I am wrong. I prefer boxers, but thats just me!! I think it depends a lot on the breeder as far as temperament goes. Thats why its essential to find a breeder who knows what they are doing.

A pug sounds like a great choice! Boxers and labs both tend to jump and paw a lot, which means a lot of rescues will not adopt them to families with young kids... and for good reason, IMO. Of course you could find a very laid-back lab/boxer, but I do think a pug sounds like a good dog for you. Congrats!

While I personally prefer bigger dogs, pugs are really great dogs with a lot of personality. Both Boxers and Labs can be a handful when they are younger.
