Default please settle an argument for me

If I am wrong.. I will call my neighbor tomorrow and admit I'm wrong... but I hope I'm not wrong because I would love to be able to gloat that I was right.

Is it correct to say that if a dog is 7 years old
then it is 49 years old in human years.

OR

Is it correct to say if a dog is 7 years old
then it is 49 years old in dog years

I think the first one is correct... that is always what I was told since I was a little kid. I was always told for every year of a dog's age was equivalent to 7 human years. But my neighbor disagrees and says I have it backwards and we finally agreed to disagree. I would really appreciate if someone could answer this for me and put it to rest.

I really don't know the right one, but I think it's the second one.

I think it's the first one. The second one wouldn't make sense.

I went searching on the internet and the old formula of 1:7 is not accurate anymore..... HOWEVER.... what my neighbor was saying is wrong and I was right. She is the one that had it backward.... YIPPEEE... I can gloat! I KNEW I WAS RIGHT...lololol. I love to win an argument with her.

Definetly the first one. every human years is 7 dog years. So if my dog was 2 human years old it would be 14 dog years

Actually I dont think there is such a thing as a dog year since there is no such thing as a dog hour. If its just relating to a dogs life span...what breed? there is a huge range.

A human year is 365 -24 hour periods... 49 of those would make a world record dog age.

Neither of you should win. Send the wager proceeds to me.

If I had to nail it down to one or the other I would award it to the second option

I've always gone with 1 = 7 , but I did see something a few years ago that did a different ratio as to breed etc. chip is still younger than I !!

Ha ha ha. You made me laugh.

It's not meant to be a scientific formula. Just a general guideline. But it doesn't really work because they age so quickly in the first couple of years. It's just a saying anyway.
