Hi all! I'm new to the forum, and have a southern blackmouth cur. Any other cur owners out there? I'm new to the breed, and it's been hard for me to find any other blackmouth owners to compare notes with.

Neat. I looked them up. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/blackmouthcur.htm
They look like an interesting breed. I've never 'met' anyone with one. I look forward to hearing more about your experiences. Welcome to the forums! |

I'll try to take some pictures of my Zeus and get them posted today! Blackmouth curs have different types or varieties, and mine is a bit different than the Ladner variety blackmouth cur in the link you posted, Saje. Zeus is a lot longer in the leg and much less stocky. He's fairly tall (27 inches at the shoulder), and his coloring is very light. People often think he's a young fawn great dane. While he gets along wonderfully with my cats and is all right around my ferret, he has an extremely high prey drive for rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, etc. I don't ever trust him off-leash because of that. With those long legs, that puppy can move!
Here's a picture of a of some Zeus-type southern curs... Cute dogs! |
