What a looser! People will believe his lies though!

I wonder why its wrong to import puppies but not adults (who could be bred right away)?

Hounded by Hounds.

I am absolutely astounded that you attack HSUS and say nothing about the attackers in this piece, the "American Sporting Dog Alliance"

The ASDA has a nice name, but I bet you know who they are. They are entirely funded by large puppy mill organizations. In their charter they are pledged to oppose ALL legislation that could possibly put any breeder out of business, no matter how inhumane they are.

Their only argument is the one stated in this piece...."If we allow this legislation...then the next step is outlawing all dog ownership."

This bill was introduced and support by a bipartisan group in the legislature. Do you honestly believe legislators are going to outlaw pets?

Shame on you! I have nothing to to with HSUS, and have no opinion on them. I am disgusted by those who attempt to paint any effort to limit puppy mills as some sort of extremist conspiracy.

Any doubts on this do a Google on "Oprah and American Sporting Dog Alliance"...they claim she wants to outlaw dogs even though she owns them.

Groch, I agree that whatever bones some may have to pick with HSUS, ascribing the dark motive of eradicting domestic pets to them is special interest spin. I'm an average pet owner, don't make a dime off of pets, and I don't fear HSUS nor do I feel that hunting with dogs for a food source is wrong.

Dark conspiracy theories should always be questioned, though I don't get angry at people that fall prey to these devices. Just try to share the truth. There is big money in puppy mills and money can be used to manipulate.

We have some recent threads where HSUS has gone after "Dog fighters" confiscated and killed the dogs, and then lost the case.

Perhaps the Sporting Dog Alliance has a loose stance on puppy mills, but sometimes you need whatever you can get on tv to counter the idea that HSUS is a "humane society" or someplace that adopts pets.

I guess my question, after reading Groch's comment, is does the ASDA have a "loose stance" on puppy mills . . . or are they MADE UP of puppy mill owners who chose a pretty name for their group and shout "ANIMAL RIGHTS EXTREMISTS, OMG!!!" every time legislation comes up that would negatively impact their bottom line?

The enemy of my enemy . . . can also be my enemy. We should have a higher standard for trusting a group than "Well, they're against the HSUS, that makes them okay."

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

The biggest reason dogs are killed is puppy mills.

If you are against euthanizing how can you be for aligning yourself with puppy mills?

That's like saying you are going to support terrorists because you are against the war in Iraq.

If puppy mills did not exist, the crazier notions of animal extremists would get no public support at all.

If you hate the HSUS, then get real about animal abuse.

Here is the thing, if you stop a certain group from breeding where will they draw the line, NOBODY will be able to breed, what good will that do us?

there are already people trying to prohibit breeding any dogs not registered w/ the AKC (no exceptions made for UKC dogs). thats because the idiots are uneducated about dogs in general but buy into a lot of puppymill BS from HSUS & other mentally ill zealots.
