I think he was lied to. Bowser DOES appear to be an APBT. I don't see rottweiler or boxer in the dog in that pic.
Doesn't make the the law any less stupid, though.

*hopes and prays with all her might that the stupid law gets overturned*
This whole thing is just stupid. This guy obviously was lied to, or whatever, has no clue what his dog is (does anyone, really? and it really shouldn't matter!) and now he's looking at losing his dog over stupid bureaucracy.

For as much as our society has embraced change, acceptance, understanding of those who are different, I feel we still have a long ways to go. Recently in my city of Mississauga, a man lost his best friend, all on a technicality. You see when Danny Truong brought his dog to be neutered he never expected to have animal control at his door day later to seize his dog, claiming Danny’s vet had reported him for owning a dog similar to a “pit bull”. Danny received Bowser as a gift, advertised as a Boxer/ Rottweiler mix. This means little under Bill 132 which condemns convicted dog owners to prove their dog is not in fact one of the four banned breeds, or a breed which shares “substantially similar” characteristics of one of these four breeds. If this is not out right discrimination then please refresh me to the definition. Danny is only guilt of being a responsible pet owner, neutering his dog, and loving his best friend. Now bowser will pay the price because of an ignorant law, which unfairly targets dogs based on their physical appearance rather than there temperament. When Bill 132 was drafted, hundreds of vets, dog trainers, animal shelter workers and animal care professionals were appalled and protested at the notion that a dog could be “born un-trainable and vicious”. Yes, the four breeds restricted under Bill 132 are powerful animals, and do belong with responsible owners who understand their history and will socialize and train them, but this goes for all dogs- period. A blanket solution such as Bill 132 not only unfairly discriminates against the four breeds listed in Bill 132 but also any and all dogs that look “like” those breeds; it also punishes responsible owners like Danny Truong. Legislation targeting sources where genetically unsound dogs are bred and sold without screening (puppy mills, back yard breeder joe, pet stores) would be far more effective at curbing dog bites and dog attacks period. Bowser now sits at my local city pound, in a 5’ by 3’ cage. If he is lucky he will be sent out of the province. Lucky, however is hardly the word to describe what it will feel like for Bowser while he waits for his family day after day, wondering where they have disappeared too. He will then be loaded by train or car or airplane and be transferred out of Ontario, where he will likely sit in another pound. His panic at this point will be expressed in the woeful howls that fill most shelters full of dogs who do not understand. One day if he is lucky he will find another family. If not he will face death, his only crime, being born into an ignorant and unjust society.
