Benefits of spaying before and after the first heat.

Can someone please be kind enough to tell me the benefits of spaying before and after the first heat?

With each heat cycle that your dog has before she is spayed her chance of getting mammary cancer increases. Because of this, they recommend spaying before the first heat cycle. Some people believe that they look more mature later in life if they are allowed to go through a cycle or two before being spayed. If you are going to spay your dog then do it before, it's just better that way, plus you won't have to put up with her bleeding all over your home or attracting male dogs. After the first heat her vulva will become larger and so will her mammary glands...this will not happen if she is spayed before hand.

If you don't spay before the 1st heat, wait 2 months for the hormones etc balance out .

I read that if you spay one too early they can become stuck mentally in a puppy like state. Is this true?

I also read or heard that you shouldn't neuter until your dog reaches maturity or else they won't grow to their full potential. Is this completely false? I was going to wait to neuter Gunnar until he was 18 months. Would I be better off doing it now when he is seven months? He doesn't mark territory at this point so that isn't a concern, he also doesn't wander at all looking for a little somethin somethin if you catch my drift, LOL!

They are "fixing" dog at very young ages now-a-days, so it must be ok
