Default Boarhounds???

Ok, I was reading Harry Potter and they mention Fang the boarhound, I have seen him on the movies and wanted to learn how, I searched in google for pics and found some of fang

and some of dogs that looked like great danes

are they the same breed? I looked on http://www.dogbreedinfo.com
but boarhound wasnt listed, is boarhound another name for a different breed?

Honestly that is what I thought the Pit bulls were originally called until they were found to be good fighters and started being used for that.

In the states Pit Bulls were very often (and likely still are) used to hunt wild boar....like male feral pigs. They are called Hog Dogs, rofl. Dog fighting goes back a few hundred years---or more probably as long as humans and dogs have been associated with each other.

Any breed of dog MUST be bred carefully, with temperament and health the main concerns. Beauty comes way after those.

A nicely bred Am Staff is not only a beauty, but a sweet fun dog to be around...as long as there aren't any other dogs, lol. Now they get along in the show ring, because they are trained to get along.

I never like the looks of the Staffordshire Terrier....but then I think it is the ears mostly.

In the movie, a digitally enhanced Bandogge was used as Fang.

There are all sorts of Boarhounds. If you'll go to www.molosserdogs.com and do a search for boarhounds you'll turn up quite a few.

Along with that, the term boarhound was also used historically to refer to any dog used to hunt boar. Filas are boarhounds by that definition.

cool, i can see why, they are beautiful!

Oh and Manchesters, about the hog dogs, we have them here, sort of. To hunt wild pigs, but they are just called pig dogs and people grab whatever big dog they can find. People often think Sophie is a pig dog

I'm pretty sure they're the same thing. Amstaff=American Staffordshire Terrier.. Staffordshire is short for American Stafforshire Terrier.

I think. You're right, it's very beautiful.
