Thumbs down Ear infection!

Kassiedoodle has an ear infection. I noticed the insides of her right ear was a bit crusty a couple days ago, not bad just a bit, and I've been cleaning them daily since. Her other ear is perfectly healthy. I went to check her ear about a half an hour ago and it was filled with liquid/puss....poor baby. She has an appointment at 4:45 this afternoon.

She's only had one other ear infection and that was a few years ago, a yeast infection. Looks the same, we'll see.

This might sounds crazy, and Lord knows I don't need more vet visits for a while but going to the vet for something trivial, although I'm sure painful for Kassie, is kind of a relief. Does that make sense? lol

Rylie has a possible ear infection as well We have an appointment set for Saturday morning. I haven't had to deal with an ear infection since we had Roxi (our foster puppy a couple of years ago).

I hope Kassie's ear infection goes away quickly!

I think it's important to get them checked out, ear infections can turn into some pretty bad stuff if not taken care of right away.

As a side note, as a preventative, I recommend Blue Power Ear Wash. The stuff is great and Buddy has not had one ear infection since we started using it and if any of you remember... he used to have chronic ear infections.

We're back and it turn out to be a bacterial infection. So she's on Otomax ointment twice a day and the vet flushed the ear out and already placed some ointments in there. Each time Kassie shakes and she's close to me I get splattered. lol Hopefully it will make her ear feel better soon.

My vet gave me Zymox which helps to get the wax out of the ears. You put it in for 5-8 days and then can clean out with a flush afterwards. You will see all the wax begin to come out of the ears.

Zymox doesn't need a prescription so I get it from any of the pet sites on the internet (many have sales) cheaper than my vet.

Home > Ear > Zymox
Home > Cat Ear and Eye Products > Zymox
Home > Dog Eyes and Ears > Zymox

ZYMOX Otic with Hydrocortisone (1.0%)

ZYMOX Otic with Hydrocortisone (1.0%) aids in the treatment of acute and chronic otitis externa due to bacterial and yeast infections.

Aww poor Kassie hope she feels better soon.

We have all the stuff at home to treat ear infections because we had them so frequently with my last poodle and Elle as a puppy that we can now diagnose them ourselves The problem with poodles is that the medicine makes their ears all greasy.

Good Luck and keep us updated on how she feels.

It's only been one day and I can already see a difference. Even during the night, morning time, the ear wasn't full of liquid gunk. Her ears are usually fine and never had wax build up in them, her other ear is beautiful. I think she had the malchance of getting a horrible ear infection, this is her only second one in her life....which reminds me...it's the 4th today and it's her birthday...sweet thing. She's 7 today.

Thank you everyone for all your well wishes!
