Default eating everything!

How old are puppies when they stop eating everything? Jedi will try and eat anything that is not attached to the ground. It's driving me crazy b/c you can't leave him alone for a second w/o him eating something!

What we have is called Bitter Yuck. I tried to put it on my fingers and he just kept licking it; he LOVED it. So that didn't work unfortunately. But we have bones and toys all over. He's pretty good in the house but as soon as we get outside he wants to eat grass, leaves, sticks, the kids toys, the hose, the cord to the filter on the pool which is a BIG no, anything...And his sister is trying to teach him how delicious poop can be. UGH...

This is all typical puppy behavior that will most likely last till at least a year and could be up until 2 years (someone told me)... Cocoa quit chewing everything up at about 8 months old. Unfortunately, we now have a 3 month old and are going threw it all over again. If the Bitter stuff doesn't work, try tobasco sauce.

Chewing is different for every dog, like YorkieLover says. My black lab is 6 months old (almost) and she doesn't chew on anything but her toys now, and my pitbull is almost a year and he still chews on the cabinets, wood trim, refrigerator, he'll chew on anything he's not suppose to. So it depends on the breed and the actual dog himself I'm guessing.

Have you taught Jedi "leave it"? Very helpful command, I use it with Gunnar all the time on walks. If he leave's it he gets a yummy snack. Only other option would be to connect him to you whenever he is out until he gets the leave it command down pat.

We just got to "leave it" in our last puppy class. He does good when we practice but when he is outside I could be talking to the fence and get a better response! He's is in his on little world just running and chewing and eating everything.
