I hope not.
Yes. I would. I probably would shy away from the thread altogether, because I view dogs as pets and really don't like the idea of killing them, but I have become a lot more open-minded and don't think it's acceptable to flame someone for a CULTURAL NORM. It is how they were RAISED. And you would go into their threads and tell them they were horrible? Shame on you.

That's a different way to put it.. I will have to think about that. Thanks for such a thoughtful post, Romy.

Actually I do know someone who eats dogs. She's from Vietnam and continues to eat dog here in the U.S., and yes, she prepares them herself. Is it something I would ever do? No, but I don't condemn her for how she chooses to live. I've met the dogs she has before, they're happy and well taken care of. I'd rather see a dog live a happy life and end up on a plate than live out their lives in the filth of a puppy mill, but maybe that's just me.

Romy, x2

As for the nursing home bit, there is actually a charity where professional photographers are matched with families who have children on life support or who they know are going to die. The photographer comes in and takes pictures before the death. Do you find this cruel as well? They know the child is going to die and make the decision to have pictures taken anyway...

I have had guinea pigs as pets over the years and I plan on feeding my dogs guinea pigs. If I have the time and space I plan on one day breeding them for food. I see nothing wrong with this either, though I know some people find it wrong. I don't see how it's any of your business how I decide to live my life as long as I am not hurting anyone.

Did I once say I thought it was cruel to feed the chick to your dog? NO. I did not, and I do not think its cruel. All I said was I don't find it very nice to post an animal who you are going to kills picture up and then make jokes about killing it. To each his own I suppose. NOTHING wrong with me posting my views on any subject. I don't know how (For the second time) people all of sudden make me AGAINST something I am NOT against.

I am NOT against people raising meat for their dogs. and I am not necessarily against posting the picture online, i just find it sad. Just because others don't, doesn't mean I am some person from PETA posting videos of animals being slaughtered and trying to convert people. I can post a simple opinion online without it being bashed.

Then why even comment in my thread in the first place? Why come into a thread just to say that what I'm doing is so sad? If you don't like it then don't look.

When I was a younger teenager, the people that boarded my horse had a young calf. He was cool. We use to feed him every day and enjoyed him quite a bit. One day he left. At the time I was told he was 'sold into the market'. Not knowing what that meant, thought little of it as many animals there would leave to be sold at some time or another. About two weeks later, I arrived in their kitchen after a ride and the Mrs. asked me if I wanted a hamburger.. Well shoot- I was starving so why not.. Half way through my eating she informed or made a reference to it being the veal.. I must say it took me back a little bit. However- I can say this- while he was uh used for food, I know he lived a good life while he was alive. And they had a small freezer full of meat. Surely no one thinks meat just shows up out of no where. And to be cared for properly, even if sited as being food in the future, well.. that being said..
PW- while others might be horrified by this, at least you care for your " little charge" while you have him. Alot of people do not, and at least you care enough to even photograph him/her. All things have a destiny- in one way or another... ( I never knew the chickens that filled their 'destiny' in my freezer food for my dogs..they came that way to us..)

Because I see nothing wrong with posting my opinion. Its not against forum rules to post your opinion because the op may not like it. Just like its not against forum rules for you to post this thread because some people may not like it.

I see nothing wrong with you posting your opinion either, though I do think that it may have been more appropriate for you to start a thread of your own about how photographing livestock is sad. That's usually common internet courtesy.
