Dremmeling small dog

I finally got a dremmel (well, my roommate did) and I started using it on my chihuahua's nails. She's doing fine with it, but the problem is that her feet are so small that I end up sanding her toes sometimes (obviously it's not much, just a little nick that makes her uncomfortable, doesn't even leave a mark). And of course I also sand my fingers that are holding her toenails. Has anyone seen any kind of dremmel guard that will prevent dremmeling her foot? I know there's the pedipaws thing, which no one likes, so I don't want to start a discussion on THAT. Or if anyone has advice on how to dremmel a small dog's nails and maneuvering around her toes, that would be helpful too. I've dremmeled larger dogs' nails and have never had a problem, it's just that my dog's feet are so little!

Dremmeling a small dogs nails is a whole different ball of wax isn't it. LOL

I dremmel Tinkers nails, she weighs well under 2 pounds and has legs the size of human fingers. What I do with her is I poke a teeny tiny hole in a piece of cotton for her nail to go through and wrap the rest around her leg.

Some may suggest a sock but with her size, I found that a dog bandana was the best size and material to do this with.

So, I poke only one nail through the cloth at a time and completely avoid both her little paw pads and my fingers.

you can use a piece of panty hose too.

That's what I used to do too Red but I found that the material of panty hose was really easily snagged and caught up by the dremmel. With the tight weave cotton (bandana stuff), the dremmel may rub it but won't catch and spin it up....if that makes any sense at all
