What kind of dog are you going to get? You need to think about that first. Have you done a lot of research?

Then you will need to choose the best food for your dog. Get some bowls, toys and grooming stuff. You'll also need to decide if you want to crate train or not.

If this is your first dog I'd recommend getting an older puppy or a young dog. Or an older dog if you are open to it. That way you won't have to deal with the housetraining and all and you'll be able to help out some other dogs.

Kongs are good. Never worked for my German shepherd though, he just doesn't like 'em.

I'm getting a German Shepherd pup this Saturday. We got her a light weight collar and leash, food bowls, lots of toys and a few treats. We're getting food with her when we pick her up. We already have all the grooming items already. Anyway, Goodluck!!
