I just called the vet to get a cost for Raika to be spayed, and she quoted me $240 for everything (anesthesia, pain meds, hospital stay, etc). Is this a normal price or should I shop around? I like our vet, so I'd like to stay with her, but if that's outrageous than I'll go elsewhere.

That actually seems a little high to me. My puppy's bills, including her spay, overnight stay, meds, and her vaccinations will only comes to $239 Canadian and another vet quoted me $190. You could shop around a little, but if you really like and trust your vet sometimes it is worth the little extra money. I myself am going to go to the vet that charges $50 more, because I really trust them and they have a great rapport with my animals.

For neutering, is it usually about the same price? Do the animals stay overnight for that as well?

It sounds a little high. When I got my dog neutered it only went a little over $100.

I know money is a realistic factor in this decision making progress, but if you can, focus more on finding a vet you trust and feel your dog would be safe with. Trust me, not all vets are good and they certainly don't all love animals

It seems normal to me. Of course, it will cost more for a female than a dog. It was $150 or so for Boris.

I paid $109 for Mack and it's the same for Hannah. Our vet did a good job too. Mack didn't die so I'm assuming they did everything right.

I have two things to say
I feel that if you trust your vet and you really like them than pay what they charge The other thing is this the clinic I work at charges $125 to spay a female and that includes surgery, anesthesia, pain meds, over night stay, and their last set of vaccinations

I got my dog sterilized for $50. It was because the council was giving half of the price back for spaying because they anted all dogs to get spayed. Overall it was about $60 dollors.

Wow. I'm going to be shopping around. If I can save over $100 that would be wonderful. I'm fresh out of college and still struggling.
