Default Third time is a charm :)

Went to yet another vet last night with Hammie. LOVED this man. He was referred to me by a neighbor. It wasn't a fun drive (an hour away)...Hammie was sick, of course. BUT worth the trip. This new vet answered questions..didn't rush thru the exam...went out of his way to make friends with Hammie..and was very thorough. MY BABY BOY IS SCHEDULED FOR NEUTERING ON SEPT. 8. He did feel that I should have socialized Hammie more (altho my boy was extremely well behaved) when he was 3/4 months old because Hammie is acting shy. HELLO........NO PEOPLE around here, nothing I can do about that. How can you possibly socialize your dog if you never see anyone?? Don't say I should drive somewhere.....there isn't anywhere to drive to, and Hammie is a torture in the car. Oh well. Mr. Hammie now weighs 70 lbs. and is very healthy. OK...you know I will be fretting on the 8th, right???!!!!!!! But, I'm still doing the neutering............even if it just doesn't seem right. I stopped for gas and Hammie was a riot...he'd never seen so many people in his life. It was a big adventure for him.

Hammie will be okay. When you bring him home, just settle him down on a blanket on the sofa beside you, pop in a good, funny movie (maybe one with dogs), bring Addie in and kick back with a bag of doggie treats and a nice bottle of wine. I'm going to guess that you're really going to need a relaxing evening, Mom, after worrying about your baby boy. (rofl) Might I suggest a Berringer Brothers White Zinfandel or Concha y Toro Chardonnay? Maybe with some lovely thin sliced maple cured ham and some mild Havarti?

By the way, if you can get Hammie to eat a little bit of candied ginger before and during car trips, it works miracles on nausea. Just make sure it's candied - not pickled (what you find on sushi bars). All it takes is a few little nibbles; not even a whole piece.
