Default Trained but acting up Help!

I am having a bit of difficulty with my dog.* So you know he is a small bread but we don't know exactly what mix.* He is 3yo now but we have had him since he was just a bitty baby.* He caught on to potty training very quickly and we didn't have any problems until about a year or so ago.* Charlie started #oneing in the laundry room (luckily the only noncarpeted area in our home) every now and then.* I don't know why he does this, sometimes he will do it immediatly after being let in from outside even.* He doesn't do it all the time, but sometimes I think it is just to tick me off.* I know he knows better, when I was working I would leave pads out but the poor boy would hold it an entire 8 hours until I returned home so I know he is capable of waiting.*Also we let him out constantly no more than an hour ever goes by unless we are out. He has no urinary infections or other health problems. Anyways we have tried the products from petco like the natures miracle and other similar ones with no luck.* We have punished him and then stopped because we heard it might work, it didn't.* Could it have to do with the litter box being in the same room?* That just dawned on me.* I am not sure but I would appreciate any tips anyone has to offer this is really getting old.* Thanks

Dogs do not urinate to annoy people.

Yes, it could have to do with the litterbox.

Put up a baby gate so that the cats can get in there but the dog cannot.

Reward your dog with tasty treats for urinating outdoors. (yes this means go WITH him. )

Dogs do what WORKS for them, so by going with your dog and giving him tasty treats after outdoor elimination, he will be much more likely to WANT to tinkle outdoors so he can get his cookie.

It could be that he's marking next to the litterbox.... my dog used to do this. In that case, it has nothing to do with whether he has to go or not, a dog who's just peed outside can still mark. In that case, the advice is the same - put up a baby gate or other barrier so that he cannot get into the room with the litterbox.

I will try the baby gate and see how it goes, as far as the reward though, we already do that. We always make a big todo when he goes outside. Thank you both hopefully this will work.

Thanks
