The lifespan for an Anatolian is 12-15 years. This was one of our reasons for choosing an Anatolian since most breeds his size don't have a long life expectancy. Our Max is only 2 3/4 years old. It's so sad when we hear of the passing of a special female. I received this through my Anatolian board and thought I'd share:
Yesterday the world said Goodbye to a Grand Lady -- Sakarya's Amira - - who was owned and loved for the past 15 years by Candice Wolf and bred by Skip and Marilyn Harned. She will be missed! Amira was quite an Anatolian -- she was beautiful, but tough. She spent the last years of her life with her constant companion, Hisar Akar. She was the Mom to a number of AKC Champions -- CH Kandira's Buz Dansci AKA "Dancer", CH Kandira's Firtina of Sakarya AKA "Stormy" - recipient of the 2004 ACE Companion Award and the first AKC Female Anatolian Champion, CH Kandira's Buz Hayal AKC "Turk". Two of her kids won the ASDCA Best Puppy in Sweepstakes awards at the National Specialties: Kandira's Buz Fantezi in 1994 and Kandira's Crescendo in 1998. And Dancer and Stormy were Best of Opposite Sex winners at ASDCA National Specialties. She may be gone from this world, but her memory will live on -- through her many Grandpups, Great-Grandpups and their progeny. |

Nice to see that people are conscious of her passing on. That's an impressive life span for a large breed like an Anatolian.
