I'd still take Zeusy, though.
Dead serious. The big bags of Natural Balance (I think they were 35 lbs?) lasted us maybe 2 weeks. It was no fun. And neither of my boys carry any extra weight. It must be my luck in dogs. My golden retriever also ate 6 cups of food a day until she was 3 years old.

I'm just glad these two are seriously lazy now. I can't imagine what my food bills would be like if they were more active.

Dont forget to add some veggies or fruits.
Raw needs vitamins you cant find in only meat.

I feed oranges , cantalope, and many greens.

I feed raw once a day just find out how much they need to get full.
And watch for them to take a chicken leg and hide it in the couch or bury it then you know u are feeding too much at one sitting and can split it in two for skinny dogs.

Wow, that is just so amazing. I can't imagine going through two bags of kibble every month.

Erm, I'll bite. What nutritional value are your dogs getting from oranges?

I give my dogs melons sometimes, particularly watermelon, but it is no way factored into their daily diets.

When I fed/feed raw it's one meal per day. They are full longer and I typically do gorge/fast if at all possible.

And I'm one of those "eyeball" people. I eyeball the meat and eyeball my dog and adjust accordingly. They both have/had good weights with this method so I couldn't tell ya how much they actually ate... ever. I don't think we have a single scale in the whole house hahaha.

When I feed kibbles it's still an eyeball game but the baseline is 2 cups/day for each dog. Buzz is on restricted activity right now so he typically gets about 1.5 cups/day. Bailey's really being worked each day so she's eating about 2 cups of kibbles in addition to training treats and other stuff I throw at her to eat for fun... it's pretty relaxed here.

Two cups of kibble is one pound ( ie 8 oz per cup) but that is kibble.. If I fed my dogs kibble it would be at least 3 cups twice a day ( ie a pound a half)...But kibble contains alot I wish not to feed. ON raw its 2 percent body weight, ie 1 percent twice a day for a normal healthy adult. For my working shepherds it was increased as they needed the calories.. ( raw is still cheaper.. although it wasnt when I started..)

I feed the boys around 1 lb per day each... usually divided between two meals. If I'm feeding something like a split chicken, or turkey carcass, or a split rabbit, something BIG and whole like that, they get one meal. Actually, even on one-meal days, I usually feel bad and give them an organ meal or tripe or cottage cheese or something at night. ; )

As far as activity, I'm not sure if that can be a rule of thumb for all dogs. Both of my boys are equally active. They go to the park together every day, they get walked a couple miles every day, and they play with each other every day. Gonzo weighs 10 lbs less than Fozzie. But, Gonzo is usually fed about 1/2 lb more than Fozzie... and Gonzo is extremely lean, while Fozzie is, erm, festively plump. It's just their body types and their metabolisms. I would not feel comfortable feeding Fozzie much less than he already eats, and I do think he's at a healthy weight, he's just stocky. I like raw because it's SO easy to just eyeball the food, and adjust it accordingly, and it's SO easy to cut out or add in calories.

I feed raw one meal a day because one of my dog gets a small amount of food because she is easily overweighed. On two portions a day she was never satiated.
