Angry Bad Chi Bad

Today our neighbors Chi bit me!!!! I am so mad about the whole situation

we own 40 acres and have a rental house on our property the renters are the ones who own the chi I didn't want them to have the dog in the first place but out of the kindness of my heart I allowed them to have her she annoys the crap out of me though they leave it tied out side all day long and it yaps like there is no tomorrow and when they are home they just let it run loose well the dog always comes charging after you as soon as you walk out your door and I have told them repedetly that I do not appreciate their dog coming after me and I hope it never bites so anyways today it bit me (for the first time) it really didn't even hurt and it didn't break the skin but the point is I didn't want the dog there in the first place, I have asked them repedidly to keep the dog restrained, and they don't even take care of the poor dog

What would you do now??

I am thinking of telling them the dog has to go but, what will happen to it? I don't want them to just take it to the pound
But I am tired of warning them about the darn thing!!!!!

Well, you're obviously a doglover to be on this site to begin with. And the dog wasn't like a vicious "pitt bull" or anything that tore you a new... well, you get the idea. They're just some clueless people that need to clue in that this behaviour is unacceptable. I would make a new clause in the lease that states the dog must be in an 8-12 enclosed kennel when outside unattended instead of running wild (and no tie-up is an option). That shouldn't be too much to ask...

I agree with EliN ....you have to have something in your contact regarding dogs. 40 acres is a lot ! How far is the rental from your home ??? I would set up some rules or they are OUT!!!!

I agree with everyone else. You did them a favour the least they can do is respect your wishes regarding the dog. I would tell them that you did them a favour by doing this and they are taking advantage of your kindness. I would tell them it needs to be corrected or they will have to leave or find a new home for the dog.

It sounds as though your renters are a little neglectful and disrespectful. If I were you,
I would simply tell them:

Your dog bit me yesterday.
I let you have the dog out of the goodness of my heart.
But, From now on I do not want the dog outside unless accompanied by someone.
The barking is extreme and the bite was the last straw.

Too bad some dog owners don't take other people into consideration.
The idea of the dog being enclosed in a kennel is a good one, except for the fact......The dog would still be barking all the time.

Good Luck,
Julie.

Thanks guys I did talk to the renters yesterday and told them that the dog would need to be indoors unless they were home and outside with it and that it was to not be left on the chain all day long any longer I also told them that the dog needed to be restrained at all times and it had to be on a leash when it was out going potty the lady was a little upset with me but I don't really care

In response to how far is the house away from ours there is a drive way between our houses and it is on the oppisite side of the driveway about two hundered yards off away from the drive so I would say about 400 yards away from our house
