Question When to start feeding adult food?

Max is going to be 5 months old next week. He's already lost many of his baby teeth, and is growing in his adult teeth rapidly. His coat is even changing colors what seems like every day. All of this growing up has made me wonder: when do I start feeding him adult food? And when I make the switch, do I transition him into the new food - mixing it with some puppy food- or do I just change his food entirely in one swoop?

Generally you should switch to adult food when the dog is full grown, which is different for every breed. For a corgi, I'd probably switch when he's about 8-10 months old. And anytime you switch food you should do it gradually, over about 7-10 days.

Great, I was hoping it'd be a while longer before I had to switch - I've still got several months of puppy food left. Thanks for the quick reply.

No problem!

And if you don't switch right on time, it's ok... just use up the food you have and then switch.

I've never fed puppy food. My dogs have had EVO small bites from 6 weeks.
