I need advice (again)!
My husband and I have three VERY stubborn Dachshunds (as they all are) and they seem to have forgotten their manners. For the most part the two older ones (Kai and Brawt) are very well behaved but have a couple of issues that I still need to work on. Nomi has been worked with but it hasn't been very constant due to me getting sick, school, moving, working, etc. So, my question is would it be bad if I completely started all training over with her? If it's something she already knows it would only being additional training to make sure she understands it. My next question is -- is there a proper order in which you should teach commands? I realize that some commands piggy back other commands (like they have to know sit/stay before you can start teaching them to do it at a distance, etc). Last question -- is there a good book that would be helpful for this? Online websites? Thanks so much! -Ashley |

Yes, you can always start over and reteach your dogs, it's really not as hard as it sounds... it's much harder for you than it is for them, as long as your rules are consistent they will figure it out.
I suggest the books, "Outwitting Dogs", "The Other End of the LEash," and "The Culture Clash", in that order. They're all great books, all focus on different things, and all will definately help you out. They do discuss how and when to teach new behaviors, and they will definately explain it better than we can here! |

I think sitstayfetch is a waste of money. THe books I suggested can be found at most libraries.
