Default Frodo's joining the Satin Balls Club...

Here's a pic of him laying down today:

(It doesn't show it the best because he isn't laying straight, but he was getting p!ssed at me for follwing him around and snapping shots)

Right now he's eating just shy of 2 cups of TOTW a day (Izzy eats 2/3 cup a day), if I give him more he just poops more. I can feel his backbone a little too easily for my liking, and he just seems too thin. I'm going to pick up the ingredients tomorrow.

Anybody know how much a 23 pound dog should have a day of satin balls?

Maya gets 3 a day, and she is somewhere between 45 and 50 pounds. The size I make Maya's are small fist size (I can easily cup my hands completely around one)
SO I would say, maybe make Frodo's satin balls, golf ball sized and give him 2 a day?

Thats just what I would do though, you might want to see if someone more knowledgable has any other advice.

I'd say 1-2 smallish fist-sized ones per day.

PS - Mayasmydobe, how is Maya doing, weight wise? Those satin balls should be doing some good by now...

Sizzle- she still looks like she's gaining weight. I am going to the other vet to weigh her again tomorrow.

P.S. I got my nylon webbing, so I am going to get started on the skulls amore collars tonight

Maybe its just me or just the pic but to me he looks good. *shrugs* I like my dogs to have a good waist line with a nice tuck and solid muscles. If they look thin but have good solid muscle structure going on I dont worry. Ronin is naturally very very lean. You can feel his hips ribs and spine without much pressure BUT I dont worry because he's got a great set of hams on him (muscling). If his energy level was lower and he didnt have the muscle that he does I'd be very worried. But of course as with anything, you know your dog best and knows his needs better than anyone can tell from just a pic

OC, one reason I'm worried is because I don't think this is where his weight loss will stop. I think he's going to continue losing without suppliments of some kind. In another breed I think his look would be fine, but Pems are supposed to taper off, your not supposed to see ribs like that (in Cardis it's fine). Plus I can feel his spine just by running my hand over his back, it's not prominent, but I can feel it too easily IMO.

Consider yourself lucky!

I have to struggle to keep Fozzie somewhat lean... somewhat. He will devour anything given to him, and it goes straight to his thighs, I swear! haha. I think if he was in almost any other home, he'd be a little barrel by now.

I think 1, or maybe 2 small batches, should help him put on a few pounds. I would take it slow, so he doesn't put on too much too fast.

Like I said, you know your dog best Glad you are getting this resolved before his weight becomes too serious of an issue!
