Default Canidae changing formula - any thoughts?

I just got this info from my pet store that Canidae will first change their Lamb & Rice formula. Does anyone have thoughts if this is good or bad. The girl at the pet store said they are doing this because rice is getting expensive.

Present formula: Brown Rice

New formula:
Mix of:
Brown Rice
Cracked Pearl Barley
Rice Bran

Even though I don't feed it, I dont like it. It takes away from the simplicity that allowed dogs with allergies to eat this food.

I don't like it one bit... barley, rice bran, millet, peas.. all to replace brown rice? Really disappointing, even though I'm not an avid follower of Canidae.

Millet and barley have good nutrient qualities . . . but adding rice bran? Seems like a filler. But I've always had some problems with feeding something that rice was such a large part of the content. I mean, if I wanted to feed my dogs rice, I'd cook up a batch in the rice cooker.

And I'm with Zoom on the simplicity thing. I don't feed Canidae and never have, but I'd always heard good things about it for many dogs with allergies.

Max needs chicken only food. He doesn't like California Natural. I looked at EVO but it has chicken and turkey. If Max eats anything other than chicken, he gets ear infections.

I have been thinking about Orijen for the whole gang... this change may push me to it, I have switched Di to Orijen as she seems to have had appetite issues of late and LOVED the orijen, I have not switched the rest but Mindy has reactions to foods and the Canidae L&R was a food she was good on, it will be too bad if the ruin it for sensitive dogs.

I'm not pleased. Canidae Lamb & Rice is literally the one and only food Winston can eat without getting sick, so these ingredient changes worry me. That, and I hate when I see barley, rice bran and millet in foods. I wish he could eat something grain free like the other dogs, but he can't.. and if these changes make him ill again, then I have no idea what to switch him to.

I don't feed Canidae anymore, but I don't like that change, and I agree with Zoom about the simplicity thing.
