Well today my husband announced the cats have to go
! I am extremely allergic to them and can't even go down into the basement (which is "their" room) without getting all stuffy with the watery eyes. I have tried a few different allergy solutions and nothing has worked . He wants to bring them to the shelter but I don't want to because I know our kitty Milo is SO loveable he will be adopted quickly but our older cat Gina is a HUGE b**** and she will probably end up having to get put to sleep . I'm trying to find a family member to take atleast Gina in but so far noone wants her. I'm so worried for her, we've had her since she was a month old and I NEED to make sure she is alright! I can't just let her go to the shelter and met an unhappy fate.

Oh Julie, I feel so bad for you and for the cats. Do you think you could put an ad in your vet's office or at the shelter. How about a picture and sign at your grocery store if they have a bulletin board for advertising.
I wish I could figure out how to find Milo and Gina homes. I don't want to see anything happen to either. I'm hoping others may have other ideas. Julie, maybe put this in the "Fire Hydrant" also just in case someone doesn't look in this section. Maybe title it "Need home for our cats". |

So sorry Julie, thats got to be so hard. How about a no kill cat shelter? Even if its a drive for you, it would be worth it. My sister got her cat from one in Florida, she was impressed with the place.

There's one no kill shelter here and they are not taking any more cats in for quiet awhile. There's on in Illinois but they said they have so many kittens that they don't have room either. We'll have to wait until someone has space available. I'll try our vet's office, I don't want to put an ad in the grocery store because then who knows what nut will answer it, if it's in a vet's office atleast I know that the people are going to the vets for another animal and they like animals. We can keep them until we move (because there's not a lot of houses that have basements here in Indiana) so if we get a house without a basement they have to go or else I'll be too miserable. The wierd thing is we had Gina for almost a year before getting Milo and I was fine with her (mainly because she didn't want anything to do with me so I never had a lot of contact with her) it was just when we got Milo I noticed like a few days after my nose clogged up and I have never been able to breath right since. The other wierd thing is that Gina is long haired and Milo is short haired. The doctor confirmed though that it was an allergy to cats (so unfortunetely I can't blame it on anything else anymore).

Julie, there are so many horse farms and grain farmers around , I'm sure someone could use another mouser...try it as last resort.

That really bites. I gotta commend you for trying to find Gina a good home considerring your allergies, other than that Im not much help. The farm needing good mousers sounds like a good idea.

Gina turned 2 in April, and Milo turned 1 yesterday. I would love to drop them off for mouser except...their PETRIFIED of mice. We had a mouse in our apartment once and they both ran the other way and hid on top of the couch until I caught it and put it outside. I know Milo would have no problem getting a new home because he LOVES everyone, he just loves to hug and give you kisses and he'd do it ALL DAY if you let him! Gina, on the other hand, doesn't like people she never has liked people either. I'm guessing it's because we got her when she was so young and she didn't stay with her mother long enough. Well I have a little time before we move so I'll hopefully figure something out.

That really sucks. If I could give Gina a home I would, that would be a huge stress on Gina getting here though. I hope you are able to get Gina the home she will thrive in.
