Here are some new action shots I got of Holly, today with my Nikon D40!

I went with the Nikon D60x from Amazon. I only got the 18-55 mm lens, though, but that's enough for me for now. I want to learn how to use it and mess around with it. I don't think I'll need the 55-200mm lens just yet.

Has anybody used the Olympus digital SLR? I know Olympus used to make pretty good cameras. My P&S is a Sony because at the time (it might still be so) Sony was the only one with the Zeiss lenses, and I see that Sony has a DSLR too now.

The D40 is actually not a bad price... but I already have a 35mm Canon Rebel, and I wonder if I shouldn't just stick to Canon so I can interchange my lenses?

Guys I can't believe I'm seriously thinking about this, but I am... I have the money, I've just been putting it off for YEARS because it sounds so expensive to drop that much on a camera...

I'm having the same dilemma choosing. I prefer Nikon but I have some Canon lenses that might work with the XTi ... so, I'm torn. I've been stalling making the purchase for months. My point'n shoot is the Nikon Coolpix P1 & I'm very happy with it.

I'm pretty happy with my P&S, too (it's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1), but it's been pooping out on me lately for action shots.

If you all have Canon Lenses, I would seriously check to see if they are compatible and I'd probably stick with Canon for you guys. I've seen some AWESOME shots taken with Canon DSLRs before, but I know there are a lot of die-hard Nikon fans here. I went with Nikon because I don't have a DSLR yet. I've never had one, this is my first. AND my in-laws have the Nikon D40x, so most likely their 55-200mm lens will work on my camera (I hope) and I can use it when they are around, if I want.

I am definitely FAR from an expert on cameras, I just know that usually Nikon fans are Nikon fans and hard pressed to try anything else, and the same goes for Canon fans.

I don't know anything about the user-friendliness of Canons, either.

My lenses are quite old so I have my doubts whether or not they'll be compatible. If they're compatible, I'll likely go with the XTi to save some money as I have 35-70mm & a 70-200mm Canon lenses. Can't argue with saving some money if they'll work with the new camera body, I suppose.

That's the awesome thing about Nikon...any lens made for any Nikon (Nikkor) will fit on any other Nikon body out there.
