Default Nanook

Nanook loves her new home (our house).

Since we've gotten her the dogs have 'escaped' twice. (someone left the gate open I think) and she sticks around. The other two have a great time running through the treed area behind our house and around the block but she just stays here.

Isn't she loyal? Gate wide open and she's being her squirmy wormy self in the backyard.

SMART Nanook! She doesn't want to end up back in doggy-jail!

The friends we visited over the weekend of the 4th have three rescued dogs. Poor Sooner is a beautiful, elegant Foxhound (you'd fall for him, Smkie) that for some reason languished in a rescue kennel for 2 1/2 years! It's definitely affected him. He's very possessive over his home now and doesn't understand how to interact with other dogs, how to play, etc., and is very melancholy.

All three got out of the fence a couple of weeks ago chasing a raccoons and animal control picked them up. Tom went and retrieved them the next morning, but Sooner is so shaken up by the ordeal that it's hard to get him to even set foot outside now, which is resulting in some 'accidents' in the house. He'll hold it until he just can't anymore, then find a corner. The only thing we could figure is that he's afraid of going out and ending up back in jail. That, or he accidentally peed on the hot wire Tom had to put 8 inches off the ground to keep Abigail from digging out under the fence, which is a possibility because now he doesn't lift his leg anymore either, just kind of squats . . .

that is a terrible shame..someone needs to take a blanket, a thermos, some treats find some shade and sit all day outside with him to help build his confidence back..that is what i would do. i had my kennel tape put on a dvd..(my brother did it for me) i was hoping to be able to post pdq and blazer..share my boss's life accomplishments where you could see, but i do not have a dvd burner on the computer so not yet anyway...i put them on the telly and it scared Vic to death,,i had to turn the sound all the way down to enjoy my memories..we will never know just how terrible it was for them..especially the babies..
