Default Heart dogs

This is really a question and I guess it should be called 'heart persons' really, but anywho...

Many people will tell you that they have had more than one heart dog. However, do you think its possible for one dog to be more than one person's heart dog?

Rose is the reason I ask. She is just.... there really are no words. She is without a doubt the most extraordinary animal I have ever known. She is just the gentlest spirit and soooo happy. She lights up and its amazing how many people are drawn to her.

I really think she is both my dad (yes, my hunting dog loving father's favorite dog ever is a 5 lb girly looking one) and my sister's. My father is just head over heels for that dog- its unreal really. Jo and Rose are always together and they just get along so wonderfully.

With the others its fairly easy to tell. Beau is most certainly my mother's heart dog, and Nikki is mine. With Rose... its not so easy to tell.

So can a dog be more than one person's heart dog?

I think it is possible.

Heart dogs are usually very special dogs so I can see on attaching to more then one person in a household.

I think so--I do think there are certain dogs who are just so very special--to more than one person in the family. I feel that way about Traveler--she is for sure, my son and my husband's girl. There will not be another dog as special as she is to either of them.

btw--I adore little Rose myself!

Of course. My little sister loved Shelby as much as I did. Though it was clear that Shelby was "my girl" there is no doubt in my mind my sister viewed her the same way I did. She was born into the family with Shelby already there. Before she was born that dog loved her and use to lay by my mother's belly. She never left my mother's side when she was pregnant. The only time she wasn't always with me was when there was a pregnant woman around or a baby. When Shelby died it was the first being Paris had ever known to pass. She cries about her every day still.

Come to think about it my brother, who hates animals, bawled his eyes when she died. She was the first dog my mother had kept since death. So in a sense, yes, she was all of our heart dogs. I had a deeper bond with her probably because I am a dog person but even my family who doesn't like dogs were in love with her.

I tried and cannot come up with one way to describe my relationship with Bronki, CHarlie, Picky and now VIctor. All i can say is when a heart dog is in my life it isn't u and me kid like it is with Pepper and Mary, it is a single unit. A single force of thought, of feeling where there is no seperation. Words just fail me sorry.

I love Mary, we are the mother's club. SHe is the other adult in the house. SHe is my baby girl, and a part of my foundation. THe relationship i had with her son however was deeper. IT feels timeless, and ageless, and when it goes your never the same again.

Definitely.

Shelby, my last dane, was the first dane Jeff ever really knew. Even though he only knew her for the last 4 years of her life, he was extremely attached to her and adored her. Even though he loves Hannah to pieces too, he always talks about Shelby in a special way. I know he'll never forget her, and he loved her almost as much as I did.

She was definitely a heart dog to the both of us. She was her Mommy's girl, she was her Daddy's girl. She was just extremely special and she melted everyone that met her in the same way.

*sniffle* Gah, I still miss her so much.

Bubba is/was my heart dog because he was there to see me through so much sorrow and hard times . I loved and was close to all my Goldens .....each one would have stepped in like Bubba did . We were lucky to have such wonderful dogs and each family member has special memories . Smkie . I can relate .... As close as Ollie and I have become , I'm sure when our time comes he'll be my heart dog and hopefully I his heart owner .

You word it much better than I. I feel exactly the same way with Nikki.

Nikki and I don't need words at all. The only reason she's just my heart dog is because she's mean.

Summer and I are still a you and me type of relationship. Trey is the same. Beau is just my buddy, but he has my mother completely. Rose is just... special.

Shelby and I needed no words. I am feeling my love for Bandit grow more and more each day. He and I don't need words either. Even though he will never b e Shelby and I don't expect him to some times I swear her spirit is possessing him. When me sister was crying about Shelby he reached up and licked the tears off her face. That was the EXACT same thing Shelby use to do when she'd cry. It was eerie.
