Unhappy Allergic reaction to chicken soup?...

Hello,

I have had my dog on EVO since she was a puppy because she had an allergic reaction to food with grains.
I also had my sisters puppy (named UKI) on EVO since she was a puppy (she is now one year and 3 monthsold), but my sister switched Uki to Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul.
At around the same time she started getting very itchy and scratched so much that she now has redish (irritated) bold spots. We took her to our vet who said it was a fungal infection. It has been two months now since he has been treating Uki, but the problem is still the same. I do not think it is a fungal infection because the treatment he gave her has not worked.

I also can not ignore the fact that the problem started soon after we switched her food from Innova EVO to Chicken Soup.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with that dog food?

Could it be a skin reaction to the food? should I get her back on EVO??

Please let me know what you guys think,

Thanks!

Try switching her back to the EVO and see what happens. She might be having a reaction to the grains that are in the CS.

I think I'm confused... both dogs are itchy? or just your dog? or just your sisters dog?

Why the switch to CS? I would go back to the food and then wait two to three months and if the itching is still rampant, go back to the vet for additional tests.

It is possible that the fungal infection is secondary to a food allergy. This means that she may be allergic to an ingredient(s) in Chicken Soup, started itching / scratching / biting herself to the point of baldness, and then in turn develop a bacterial infection.

Therefore, I would switch back to EVO and, at the same time, treat for fungi -- it's useless to treat for fungi if she's still consuming the allergy food and scratching (promoting more bacteria).
