If she will fall out of love with the sound of her own voice in the car . . . . .

Renee, it took you this long "Welcome to the wonderful world of pitties"

If you find a way of getting Tallulah to be quiet in the car, let me know. Peanut won't shut up. He now barks at anything that appeals to him (dogs, cows, horses, nothing!).

Kharma's vendetta against starlings and pigeons was bad enough . . . but at least her barks and howls are sonorous, not ear shattering And Tallulah loves, LOVES to get right up next to me with her mouth right in my ear and let one sharp bark go just for sh1ts and giggles . . . Kharma is not amused. One of these days Tallulah is going to find herself barking with her head held inside Kharma's mouth.

I saw an interesting method for barking in the car on Its Me or the Dog. She covered up all the windows and put up sheet to block their view of the front and would let the dogs peek out, and if they barked she'd cover the windows again, kinda taking away the rewarding behavior of looking out the window. She only let them look if they were quiet. It didn't seem to take long for the dogs (3 Danes) to get the point. This method probably wouldn't work for dogs barking out of fear/anxiety though.

Kharma has specific things she barks at. City cops. She hates 'em with a passion - can't say as I blame her though, they've harrassed us way too many times when we've been walking . . . anyone who stares too long (that's pure Fila), she is convinced that all starlings and some pigeons should die, and there are certain traffic lights and transformers that must emit something she doesn't like. I've noticed that a lot of the ones she growls at are slated to be worked on. She's also developed an antipathy to blond women driving dark green Hondas, and there's a taxi that's leered at us once too often that she has declared war on.

Tallulah . . . . I think some of her barking is because she can't figure out what Kharma's torqued about but she's backing Kharma's play.

And some of it is just because she likes the sound of her own voice so well Trust me, she doesn't have a fear gene She does, however, have a healthy respect for Kharma, and she doesn't want to displease Bimmer. ALL the females react that way to him . . .

How would you drive with the windows covered though?

On the show, they had a SUV with one of those big trunks, so I think they just enclosed the dogs in there with sheets and stuff. I'm not sure that would work with a cunning Fila though....

I seen that show too. My god were those danes out of control But it worked REALLY REALLY fast. I was very surprised. I just love the show.

If you had a really small car. I'm not sure what you could do. I'm thinking that it would be against the law to cover your windows, lol.

If you can't cover the windows, just put a bag over her head. LOL
