I really don't know why you don't want to believe me.

My training methods, how I stopped it, or anything of that sort has nothing to do with the question.

Find me someone on this forum who does not believe that GSD's are dominant dogs.

Like I said, if I worked 12 years with all sorts of different dog-breeds then of COURSE, the GSD is nothing.

But, I haven't. I'm becoming defensive because you choose not to answer my questions and instead bug me about how my dog was being domineering and how I handled it.

IT SHOULDN'T MATTER! I don't understand why it would... the question is SIMPLE! If you don't want to answer, don't!
i think bigdog is young or a teen and is confused, but i think strider is handling this very well
my 2 cents, and for everyones knowledge i did not pm anyone bigdog just incase you may think i did cuz im agreeing with strider on this point

I didnt say goldens werent smart did I? I said german shepherds are smarter, but I love goldens, grew up with one, and I am deffinetly not trying to stir the pot. I was trying to inform bigdog, and trying to get some more info from him/her so I could give better advice. unfortunately bigdog would offer any more info.

You think I'm a teen or young.... and that I'm confused... what does that have to do with the topic at hand?

oh boy, is right... whatever... I don't even care anymore.

no actually I didnt, I sent you a private message telling you why. if I said "I have a problem. my dog wont listen to a thing I say" people would ask me questions. the questions were relevant because you didnt provide near enough information in your original post.

That I wanted a dog that wasn't as domineering as a German Shepherd? But you told me that there is no such thing as a guard dog that is less domineering than a German Shepherd. That's it. That's all that should've been said. You answered my question right there.

If you think that your dog is trying to dominate you when he's just a puppy... highly doubtful.

The only dogs i've seen that tried to actually assert their place in a pack were ~2+ years old dogs with extremely weak owners who would practically roll over for the dog.

As far as different breeds being more dominant then others, in my opinion it depends more on the dog then on the breed. I've seen some labs that are dominant to a point of it being unhealthy ( for them) and i've seen huge rotts just roll over and pee themselves when a dominant dog come in. Im sure breed has alot to do with % of dogs that can become dominant versus submissive, but the best thing to do is to check out the parents first. See how they act and ask breeder to help you pick a right puppy. Oh and dominance goes different ways... a dog can be submissive with his direct family and very domineering with everyone else.

Oh and someone posted pitbulls, they make terrible guard dogs...
