Default When Do Dogs Start To Hump?

I think at already 7 weeks (or younger, can't remember exactly), the puppies were humping each other. And Louie's owner said he now at 9wks. old already has a ''favorite teddy'''....is this normal? Do you discourage the behavior this early?

Cider at 3 months humped the guy I was with and her original owner, I laid down the law, and she didn't hump me. Smudge started on bushes at 6 months, he attempted on me a few times then. I pushed him down. Neither dog humps often now.. They sometimes do during play though.

I think it depends on the dog and the owners. Some never do, some start early.
My stud dog has never humped anyone BUT our oldest SPAYED female started humping my Husband's leg (its his dog and he thinks it's funny). She started a couple of years ago at or about the age of 6 or 7 and she is now 10!! She doesn't even consider humping me, not allowed on any level. She had two litters and I can't remember her humping him when she was intact but started after she was spayed lol.

Strider is 9 months old, intact, and has never tried humping a person. He's tried humping other dogs twice. Once was Darby, a neutered mini aussie, and then it was Darby's face, lol. Darby put a stop to that however, and Strider has yet to try it again. The second was Strider's own auntie, because her housemate was in heat. That ended quickly however. All she had to do was sit and it put an end to that behavior. He hasn't shown any interest in it since then. *shrug*

I always put my foot down when it came to people ..... but pups and dogs do hump toys and each other . Seger has been here all week and he and Ollie play " dominance " everyday . Both neutered .... one almost 1 1/2 the other about 3 .

Agreed.

Princess [doxie] is a child molester, she has a thing for puppies. Did it to Honey when she was a puppy, and I seen her do it to Valentino

But also I guess it has to do with the unaltered thing though. But Pepe still humps and he's altered.

But when they become OBSESSED its when the problem, every now and then okay [and iff its just THAT toy]. But Didi had this one husky toy she would hump everytime she was in sight of it, and NONSTOP, started to pant took a short break and went at it again. Also very aggressively fast like a little speed demon.

I have never owned a humper, even leaving Orson intact until just last week he was never a humper. He kept his nosey nose all up in Phoebe's business........and probably *would* have tried had she let him.

Kevin's mom's Chi is a major little humper...........very annoying habit if you ask me.
