I brought Dixie home today after her spay. I feel so bad for her. She won't lay down or sit. She just stands there looking at the floor. She has her E collar so she doesn't lick her belly. They spayed her and fixed her hernia all together. I bought her home and Bear was so excited so I put her in her crate so she could have some alone time. She just whined the whole time. This cry that I have never heard from her before.
I have pain pills for her and have already given her a dose. I also have sedatives for her just in case I need them. I've been laying on the floor with her just petting her. Every now and then, I'll get a tail wag. She just seems so sad looking. I know it was the right thing to do and the hernia needed to be fixed no matter what. But I still feel terrible. My poor puppy.

It's so much harder on the females Not to mention the extra surgery on top of it. I am sure she will be back to her old self in a few days and THEN you will have a fine time keeping her settled down until she is fully healed, LOL

Aww your poor girlie!
I'm sure she'll be up to her old ways in a day or two, just like Coop said.

If she's not doing a lot of licking, try givinig her a break from the E-collar, at least while you're there with her. Those things freak some dogs out a lot worse than the after effects of the surgery.

She's still the same this morning. Last night she layed down and never moved from her spot. This morning I woke up and instead of my normal wake up greeting she just layed there a whined. I hope she does feel better after a day or 2. She did eat a little this morning but only if you hand fed her. I'm going to take the e collar off and see how she does. The vet gave me a little bit of bitter orange for her staples so she doesn't lick. I'll do that today for her.

I will be glad when something better is invented then the e-collar. I know why mary had to wear one after her eye surgery, but none of my girls ever did after their spaying episode. So i wonder why. I know it caused Mary a lot of stress in the beginning. Hope your babygirl heals quickly and can get rid of that dang thing.
