Which is better, or is it just about the same quality?
I went price searching and Candiae isn't as expensive as I thought! Evo isn't THAT expensive, but I'll spend more on buying dog food not only the price but in stock, because I have four dogs so I'll probably need like two 13lb bags to last me a month, so dog food will go from around $20 to $50 a month. Evo Small Bite Red Meat 13lb. is $28 6lb. is $15 Candiae 5 lb. is $8 20 lb. is $26 I got so mad though, because I found out Hill's Science Diet is CRAP food for dogs!! I had my dogs on Nutro for a while now (they were on Pedigree prior) and when the pups were born when we went to the vet's to get the pups checked out and whatnot, the vet suggested SD, and I thought it would be best for our dogs coming from the vets. But then I read about what you should look for in ingredients and what to not look out for, and the what you should NOT look out for was FIRST in the ingredient, CORN! And for Nutro what TO look for was FIRST in the ingredient, Lamb Meal! And it had NO by-products or animal fats, wheras SD did! So I have to wait till this $11 DOLLARS 5 POUND BAG finishes.....whereas I could of gotten a MUCH BETTER quality dog food for only $8!! Or spent about the same for a bag of Evo!!

Is there a major difference in grain free and not grain free? I know grain free is better, but in general, its not like grain kibble is bad for dogs?

Depends on your dogs, and what they are doing. Dekka does not tolerate grains well at all. And they all look better and race better on grain free. But that is not an issue with most pets.
I like orijen better than evo. |

It really does depend on the dog . . . BUT, go look at the pictures Laurelin has of Summer before EVO and Summer after EVO.
And I have Bimmer, at nine years old, looking and acting like he's no more than five at the most, with not so much as a shadow of upcoming skin problems, which, in GSDs, is generally pretty remarkable. I've seen some highly bred, European GSDs who are already showing some signs by this age. The only thing he's ever had to be treated for was to have an encysted oil gland removed. Oh, and Juicy, you will feed significantly less of the EVO than you will the Canidae, plus the grain free foods seem to make it easier to maintain a healthy weight, especially in dogs who tend to gain fat easily. When I was doing my first research on it, even before I met Mordy and knew about her site, I'd compared the ingredients and the breakdown of the regular Innova to Canidae and found that, for me, the Innova was an easy choice.

I can't say that one is actually better than the other. I personally like EVO better because it is grain free, and I don't like grains in dog food, but Canidae is better for a lot of dogs. Like Winston, who can only eat Canidae and nothing else it seems. He wouldn't be able to tolerate something like EVO or Orijen at all.

hmmmmm I have been doing a lot of soul searching on foods, recently decided to go back to canidae Lamb and Rice, hoping Diamond would do better on it because of her allergies, I wonder if she does not settle down if I should try Evo? Do they even have it here in Ontario does anyone know, I don't remember seeing that before?

Thanks everyone. Renee that would be great for Pepe, because he suffers from eye stains too.
Would Evo be too rich for 8 week old shih tzu pups? I always hear about Evo beinging too rich for puppies, but I think the breed or size has something to do with it?

It's large breed puppies you want to wait on feeding EVO. The Littlies are fine on it
