Now, I know this is hard to believe but apparently my dog Rocket has had a nail on his foot that, well, I never noticed until a few days ago. It's not directly on his paw (more towards his leg) and it was covered by some fur. He has these on both hind legs but one seems to eb cut fine (which I don't understand why, I'm the only one that cuts his nails). The other one, however, has grown so much that it has started to curl, making it too hard for me to just stick it in some clippers and cut, especially since he hates having his nails cut.
I know I should train him to like having his nails cut, but this nail seems too long to cut without cutting the quick. I hear that the quick also grows if the nail grows without being cut, so I don't really have a clue as to where to cut. I'm still mad at myself for not noticing this nail sooner. |

That would be his dew-claw...those are hard to cut. I hate 'em!
Just take off the tip and trim it again in about a week, again just doing the tip, again the week after, etc. You could always have the Vet do it if you don't want to. It's hard to get a good angle on those things to clip them. Pam |

yup. One time I was wondering why I kept of having these cuts. Then I figure it up, it was Toki's declaws. They were sharp.

a dremel is a great tool for trimming dog nails.
