Default Is this a good breeder?

http://www.bavarienburg-dobermann.com/Home.htm

I'd really like a doberman in the future, and I want my first to be a puppy from a responsible breeder. After that, I'll stick to rescue, but I really want a well bred puppy at least once in my life. I like that these guys breed for working dogs. You have to look around for a bit, but it does say what the dogs scored on health tests. I really like that they do rescue work, if I buy a puppy from them, I'll probably come back to adopt some rescues, too. They don't crop their pups ears, which I really like, as I don't like the look of cropped dobes. Please review and rate this breeder!

They look OK at first glance. However they are a working breeder. More than likely the puppy will have TONS of drive and have a sharp temperment. Be VERRY sure you can handle a dobe like that.

Oh, it won't be years until I can get one, and I'll be doing tons of research before then! I live a very active lifestyle, so he/she will get plenty of exercise, and I know some very good trainers to help me along the way.

They seem to breed quite frequently but other than that they seem very good, all health tested and working dogs. I also like that they say they will take a dog back at any age of his life.

As it's been said many times ....I'd go by breed club referrals . To me on line sellers are only thinking of their pocket books .

grammy I believe they only ADVERTISE online, like most good breeders. They will not actually sell the puppy through the computer, they still do just the same as a breeder who does not advertise online except they reach more people. I don't see how advertising online has anything to do with the breeder only wanting money, I understand if the breeder were actually selling the puppy through the website without screening and speaking to the buyer, but just by having a website to show off their kennel and get people to consider them seems no worse than advertising through a breed club.

Grammy, almost all good breeders will have websites. That does not mean they sell dogs online. I think all of the top JRT breeders (for working ans/or show) all have websites. For many breed clubs they just post a listing of all members who have signed a code of ethics and payed$$$ To me that is not enough to warrent thinking them superior.

I agree at first glance they look ok.

I don't have problems with good breeders having websites as long as they don't sell pups through it.
A huge issue with BYB's and Registred breeders is that people that don't know the difference usually arn't even aware there is a difference. They think they're are pet's they get out of newspaper ads or there are "snooty show dogs" that generally belong to people like registered breeders. There are a lot of barriers that need to be broken down so registered breeders arn't seen as elite.

Hell, if I ever start breeding I might even advertise in newspapers. Not to try to rehome pups quick or anything, but to get the difference out there between a good and bad breeder. Imagine seeing an and "labradoodle pupies, parents vet checked $1500 each" or "Papered labradors, both parents ANKC Champions, parents screened for genetic disease, full breeder support, come with helpful puppy pack, etc, etc $600 each"

I know some breeders that do this, basically to grab more peoples attention to the difference bewteen a good breeder and a bad one, it doesn't mean they will sell to everyone that calls from that ad, but they could atleast educate them. Even if their entire littler is already sold to people on the waiting list, maybe they could end up with these people that call learning something and NOT going back to the news paper for a pup but pehaps even joiinging the waiting list?

The more registered breeders stick to not advertising and waiting for people in the know to find them, the less this is going to change.

I can only speak for Golden breeders I know of . They show their dogs and do breed to keep their line going ...... but between the Breed Clubs and word of mouth , they do not need to advertise to sell on line . I'd be interested how many Chaz members who have quality breeding advertise . I wouldn't . Only would have a site to brag !

So what you're saying is if I was starting my research for a Rottweiler and I stumbled on this website http://www.redyre.com/ I should just shrug and not do anything?

Please, give me a break. The internet can be a great TOOL in finding potential breeders.
