Don't push a Lab to her limits
A few years ago, when we first joined the church we go to now, the pastor's family invited us over, and invited us to bring one of our girlies. We chose May since she's great will all other dogs and will tolerate anything. The pastor has a miniature poodle named Casey. We were outside with the dogs, walking around, and Casey had a big tennis ball in his mouth. He got mad at May for walking in front of him and started barking at her and trying to bite her tail, ball still in his mouth. Suddenly, May, who rarely barks or growls, stopped, turned around, and gave him a low, serious growl, as if to say, "Don't you DARE push at ME!" then she turned, look at me as if nothing had happened, and trotted on. Casey, of course, was stunned. He had this look of amazement on his face as he ran along, ball in his mouth.
