How do you let people know about a dog groomer who is very abusive to the pets.......I've have seen first hand....How this groomer is totally out of line when handling these peoples' pets.
I have worked at this hospital in Maryland for quite a while and can't tell you...how terrible this is.......I have talked to the managers and have gotten no where. some people would gasp at the way these poor animals are treated, not to mention the boarding here is terrible also. I would never ever leave my animals to board there either..... much less groomed with this particular person. they have 2 groomers one is very nice and never ever does this; in fact that groomer will not even work on the same days because of the abuse. That groomer will be leaving soon because of the **** that goes on, she is in the process of building her own mobile grooming business and wants nothing more to do with this hospital as well. They are losing good workers because of this one person. The whole hospital knows about it but continues to let this take place. Even the owner. So, if you want any information, you can email me personally at tnmg2008@yahoo.com I also have witnesses that will come forth, but beings I live so close to this person and a little nervoous about taking this any further I could really use some input......Please help shut these mean groomers down...... One person who was smart enough and caught her beating one of the dogs on his cell phone and may still have the video....That's another alternative if it still exist. Thanks for letting me vent...Sorry so long.... |

In your state do groomers have to be certified? Even if they don't have to be, has this groomer been certified? If so contact the certifying school and report the groomer.
You could also call your local paper/news show and see if they'd be interested in doing some undercover investigating of this place.

What if you and other witnesses file reports of the abuse with the local authorities? I don't know if it's the police or animal control who decide to file charges in abuse cases. If enough people report they may do an investigation or something.

Hidden video camera is the best bet, then take it to the closest t.v station.
Years ago, a video was taken of a *trainer* in Atlanta (if I remember correctly), she was trying to get the dog to 'down', dog was very scared of her, she stepped on the leash and then started jerking like crazy while the dog screamed, then the 'trainer', cracked up. All that was caught on video, it was given to the local t.v stations and we even saw it up here in Canada on the news. Mobs gathered outside of the training centre, trainer was arrested and she certified but I can't remember with who, but that was also taken away. Apparently the out cry was so bad the training/grooming/boarding centre had to shut down. Of course they were sued as well by the owners of the dog. |

add... You should always report, the person should never get away with abuse!
This is why I self groom my dogs from when they were alive! And will always groom myself when I get my own dogs someday |

See stories like this make me glad that my mom cuts my dogs hair. Its not the best job in the world but I know she isn't mistreated.
It does worry me about taking my Persian to the groomers.

If you're worried, you should be able to stand there and watch animals being groomed. I haven't seen a professional shop yet where you couldn't do that.
I take Benji to a woman who grooms at her house. She's a very nice lady who has a dog, cats and children of her own, so I'm confident she's not hurting Benji.

... most of the mean ones were the owners, IMO. Some of them were the type to let their cocker grow out for a year, get completely matted, then demand that we brush it all out - yeah right - and torture the dog in the process, that amount of brushing is excruciating for the dog. Those jobs we refused to do. So no, not all groomers working at "big box" stores are bad, with no training.
