Default How many dogs are TOO many

Me and my husband are moving pretty soon to a new house with a MUCH larger and fenced in yard. The house in on almost 2 acres and all of that is fenced. My question is I would like to rescue another dog from a shelter (I haven't found the "right" dog for me to rescue yet though). I know with this new job I will be getting that I will have enough money to properly care for them too. My question is how many dogs is TOO many?

I'm only allowed four dogs maximum where I live at the moment
When I was a kid we had six dogs with no problem.

It just depends on you!

I guess it depend on the amount of space you have in your home and how much you can handle as well as being conscious of neighbors that may live close by. Get hundreds of dogs!!!!!!!!!

I just thought too, if it's a subdivision check to see if there are any restrictions . . .

This reply is to Renee. I love the quote you have attached to your profile.

"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semihuman. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog." Edward Hoagland

When I trained Cotton his tricks he always responded better when I barked or howl as oppose to speaking english.

I think it really depends on the family. My sister has nine large dogs. There are usually regulations, though...I think where we are it's 2-4 dogs.

Too many dogs is when you've reached the point that individual attention and love is at a strain and stretches the budget .

I think 2 would be my limit and 3 is extreme. Unless someone in the house takes care of 2 dogs each. hehe
