amen... I was shocked by some family responses regarding Bella when we realized her eye condition...send her back? Um, NO. She's a part of our family now.. for better or for worse.. to think that I wouldn't have this 100lb dog laying across me as I type if I had lacked the heart to keep her... the very thought saddens me greatly. Though, I could do without the 100 lb fila sucker punches to the face.

I hate it when dogs are seen as property and not as feeling creatures as ourselves. How is it that humans can do that? If it were a child, with an imperfect tooth, would they be sent back? A trust broken? I do pray the tooth does what you and the breeder want it to do, but not for the reasons that you request, but because this pup has put his trust in YOU.they are just as much a baby and given the same promise in their hearts when dropped in your arms for the first time, that you will love them unconditionally and will protect them with everything you have..and i feel for the break of that trust, it isn't fair. THe second bond comes not as easily and if there is a third and a fourth it may never be the same again.. i hate the whole business of this.

You seem to be implying that I would send her back? That is not the case. She would be taken back if the tooth does not come out.

The breeder believes the tooth will come out but it is just late coming as all others from this litter were late as well.
Her gums are swollen around where that tooth would come out so hoping that means the tooth is on its way.

I want to keep this puppy forever. She has bonded with us and she is well loved by the whole family.

HOpefully all will work out fine...but if it doesnt' i hope the breeder will consider your and the puppy's feelings. THat contract needs to change. WE never had anything like that at the kennel i grew up working in. IF there was a problem and the owners wanted to rehome, we of course would take it back but never ever INSIST! THat is horrible.

Thank you Boreayl-Chinooks for the PM!
As a result I went straight to the phone and called the emergency clinic which is also where my vet is!

Yes an xray can be taken as early as 10 weeks of age.

However if the gums are swollen and she is chewing like crazy; not a normal behaviour for her; then likely the tooth is on its way.

The advice was wait a week and then if nothing bring her in for an xray.

Xrays are not expensive either so for peace of mind it will be well worth it.

I am sure it is coming; if not then somehow I will keep her with our family.

Positive Vibes; no negative thinking allowed.

The tooth is just starting to break through.
I can barely see the tip of it.

So we can all breath a sigh of relief. Me espically!

Krosha stays. Her obedience classes start in one week!

When I first found out we were supposed to pray for a dog tooth I thought this thread was crazy. Then I read the whole thing and realized that what we were praying for is that you not have to part with your buddy, your friend. I am so glad the tooth is coming in. I couldn't pay $2500 for a puppy either, no matter how much I wanted to. it would have been heartbreaking. Yay teeth!
