Default Skittish Around Puppies?

Why is my 1 1/2 year old female chihuahua so skittish around other puppies??

We are good friends with the family that gave her to us and we go visit at least once a month. Sometimes our visits will land after her mom has given birth to a new batch of puppies.
If i bring a puppy (her sibling) near her, she will try to run away as if its going to hurt her! she really cant stand it, and this behavior goes on until they have almost reached their adult height.
would this skittishness make her a bad mother if she were to have a litter of her own, or would maternal instinct kick in with her own pups?
(now dont all u againt-backyard-breeders get ur backs up, i dont want to breed my dog)
i have never seen this peculiar behavior before, does anyone have an explanation?
Thank You in advance for any info u may provide.

First of all, your dog does not recognize the other puppies as her "siblings." She MIGHT recognize her littermates at this point, but she certainly doesn't care that those puppies are her brothers and sisters.

Many dogs are skittish around puppies. Puppies are like babies to humans - some adults like babies, others (like myself) just find them annoying (no, I don't have kids yet). Plus puppies haven't learned appropriate play, bite inhibition, etc., so it's no wonder she wants to get away from them!

Don't know how she'd act if they were her own, I've never bred a litter myself.

My females never liked puppies as much as my males did ! Maybe they thought I don't need those !!!

Gonzo pretty much despises puppies, until they have learned to respect his boundaries.

Puppies are rambunctious, rude, and hyper. Some dogs are scared of them. Some dogs are just annoyed. Fozzie ADORES puppies, but that's expected with his personality... he is laid back and doesn't really mind if dogs are rude.

Your dog just doesn't have the personality to tolerate puppies. It could be due to lack of socialization with puppies, being removed from her litter too early, or just a skittish temperament. Personally, I would not breed a dog who doesn't have good manners with other dogs... the Mom's job is to raise her puppies to be polite, and a dog that is scared of puppies might not do so efficienty, and could even reject her puppies in rare cases.

speaking of the mother. i have noticed that she picks a favorite, (always a male) and the runt will almost always be female. when the pups are still milk-age, she will stop and lay down at the first demand of her fave, but will make the runt follow her everywhere, trying to get milk at any chance possible. mine wasnt really the runt of her litter but mom will growl at her now if she gets too close to her. y does she do that?

Your dog is 1 and 1/2 and somtimes your visits land after the mother has given birth... so the mother breeds every heat?

Your dog is from a BYB... spay her.

To the question... is she okay around older dogs? she may just be undersocialized with dogs and just needs more experiences with them.
