My dad's dog, Bosco, is epileptic and on some sort of medication for the rest of his life. He's a chocolate lab and turned 4 at the end of October. In May he had his first seizure, and another in the car on his way to the vet's the next day. I wasn't there, I was at my grandparents, but I'm left at home frequently with my 11 year old step brother, alone. I'm afraid he's going to have a seizure, because he DOES have them despite the medication.
What should I do if he does have one? Or, what should I do to prepare just in case he has one? |

The main thing is to stay calm . I always sat quietly beside the dog and talked to it reassuringly while stroking . Depending on the severity it shouldn't last long . He could lose control of urine or bowels .....As he comes out of it , try to have him stay down as long as possible . There are different reactions with different dogs . Mine never needed medication as they didn't have them that often . My vet didn't like to start medication unless they had more than twice a month . My I.B.'s were caused by a brain tumor ... a different story . My Bubba only had 2 , about a year apart . His 1st was outside and when he " came to " he acted as if he didn't know me and started to run .... which scared the sh!t oput of me !! Anymore questions , we're here to help .
