We were supposed to get another Dobie in the spring, and chances are that will still happen, but my parents both have also always really liked Shibas. Earlier tonight my Dad mentioned that maybe he'd like get a Shiba at some point, perhaps instead of another Doberman. We've read lots, but does anyone have any first hand experience with the breed? We've only ever met two before, so all knowledge we do have is pretty much from books and the internet. Anything and everything you could tell us would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine has a Shiba. Lovely boy, independent and very intelligent, but highly dog-aggressive and I've heard that DA (particularly towards the same sex) is common in the breed. Then again, it's not uncommon in Dobermans either.

I love Shibas, I think they have strong personalities and a wicked sense of humor.
