You would never know anything was wrong which makes me that much more convinced it is a stinger or a fang. I wish i could post a pic of it, but i don't have anything to do that with. ANyone ever see a stinger that his hooked like a cat's claw? I know they can have barbs on the end but this doesnt..it is so freaking small, usually you can see a stinger. Since it is november and so cold i doubt it would be a wasp or a bee. THey are straight stingers anyway i believe. So most likey a spider but i can't think of one that would send a 50 lb dog into shivering and holding his leg straight out while he tries to walk. Normally you say the word outside and before you have finished saying it he is at the door, i tried that and he layed there with his leg out, ears down, giving me the most mornful look and that is the closest i have ever come to being bit without the teeth actually touching me when i removed it.

Not sure if you have these where you live or not, but we have wood (I've also heard them called Wolf) spiders (not in the house thank God), that can get quite large and they have fangs. A friend down the street has a Rottie and they found a spider in the dogs food bowl. The spider was so big his legs were hunched up and he was eating the Rottie's food. This was a full grown Rottie, so big dog food. We've found them in the shed, but we've only ever found them dead. From what I've heard they are not poisonous, only big hairy and scary. I think they are mostly around woody areas, but I could be wrong. I'll see if I can find a link about them for you.
