i don't think this set up will work with either breed of dog if provoked or intrested in something i belive that your BMD will also be able jump this fence i would look into making an investment of a much higher fence even if it is not the whole 2 acres that you have but just an area that you will allow the dogs into without suppervision

Thats so awesome that your so involved with your dogs!

Seriously, not enough people are like that!

YAY lol

I think you should do fine then with a Sibe.. I really would get the fence put into the ground a foot more though. They have a NASTY habit of digging..lol ALL of them lol I haven't met one Husky that doesn't LOVE to dig.

... I also require LOTS of puppy pics of a baby sibe lol

I would build up the fence another couple feet. An ounce of prevention, right?

Meet Ridik!!! (3yrs)

He's a friend's rescue from a frat house, I've been working with him since August. 3-6 miles a day plus 30 minutes of training have made him an unbelievable Husky. I have yet to see him digging. I can walk 5 houses away while leaving him on the front porch (unfenced). Tons of patience and determination are required, but the payoff is amazing. My male malamute was the only digger, thankfully the Saint never picked up on it. Sorry, I know I'm diggin' through old posts, but I just found this site this week.

hello

I have some siberians. and I would not trust them for any time in a fence that short

show dog or not a calm parent does not make a calm puppy.

I have had a bit of expereince with siberians and as much as I trust their limitations I certainly do not ever really trust them.

I have been shocked and had dogs that have never escaped or tried, be out side in the morning happy with their achivements of getting out of the pen.

we have 7 foot fence with a 2 foot dig guard all around the bottom. precautions used means we wil not lose a valued dog and pet.

IMHO

Thanks again everyone for your input. We have had many converstaions witht the breeder and have come to a final (but sad) decision not to get a Sibe puppy. We felt that owning a Sibe would greatly curtail our BMD's daily freedom as he has no desire to run, jump, or dig. So now we are looking into a Shiloh Shepherd or another Berner.

At least you have made an educated decision instead of finding out later on after the puppy came home.

I suggst another Berner!

the fence you describe will NOT keep a sibe in. They're amazing dogs, but they are escape artists like no other breed.
