Default Pics of our Satin rabbits

We are finally getting our Satin rabbit herd going. We had mutt bunnies for a while, but they just didn't get big enough fast enough and their fur wasn't near as nice.

Now although we do raise them for our freezer and we use the fur, the ones that I am posting pics of are our breeding rabbits, so they get names and will never end up in the freezer and are pets. Its all the future babies that will be known collectively as Yum and will not be pets.

Mom mother is the one in the pic holding them, They are very relaxed, easy going rabbits.

This is Paige, a four month old Red Satin doe

Thanks, it took us a long time to track down a good Satin breeder.

Holy crap they're freaking huge!! I got used to my grandma's rabbits...I think they might have been some strain of Californian?? White with pink eyes and black points but they weren't near that big at two months...they were like adult Chihuahua sized at two months. They never got any bigger than a shih tzu at full growth. Of course, they were only food bunnies, not fur or pets. Well, they were pets during the summer when us kids where there and they were still young babies.

LOL, yes they are quite large. They have a really good meat to bone ratio. Most of the bunnies residing here, won't be pets. Only the ones we use for breeding get to be pets. I love to cuddle bunnies, so I have to make some of them permnant family members. I learned long ago to never name or spend too much time cuddling anything you plan to eat later.

Where are you in Kansas? I think I asked this before...you can PM if you don't want to share with the rest of the class.
