Bone hiding

We had a cookout a few days ago and my hubby cooked bone in beef ribs. We threw the bones to the dogs to chew on because they don't seem to be able to chew through them real quick and last a long time. Except that one by one over the last few days they have been disappearing.

Yesterday we were sitting outside watching the dogs and the kids play and we saw Molly go running past with one of the bones in her mouth. She headed straight to where we had the pumpkins planted (we harvested the pumkins the same day as the BBQ) and promptly dug a hole,dropped the bone in and then shoveled the dirt back over it with her nose.

I have never seen a dog do this in real life. I have seen it on TV shows and cartoons. It was so cute.

As soon as she got it all buried good she came running over to us with her dirt covered nose, wagging her tail and acting really proud of herself. It was so funny. Of course she got told how cute she was. Well at least now we know where all of the bones went. Upen further inspection of the now empty pumpkin patch, we found several newly made mounds of dirt. I guess she plans on keeping all of the bones safe,LOL.

Milo buries his most delicious treats in the couch, pillows, beds, and blankets -- and even goes through the motions of covering them up with imaginary dirt using his nose. Pretty awesome.

lol we have to make sure we dig all ours up but Buster loves trying to buy them, used to do it more when he was younger but its so cute.

My Milo does both of those things.

Very cute. But in the future I wouldn't give them the cooked rib bones. They can splinter off little pieces which can perforate their digestive tract.

Raw bones are great for dogs, that's what they were meant to eat. Never cooked. I've always done this with my last 2 dogs, but b4 them we were always told to never give chicken or lamb chop bones. They always got the T-bone after a BBQ. When we got married & brought my husband's dog to live with us, she always buried her bones. When she passed away & we got another dog, one by one, Jedda's bones would appear over the next year.

Its so cool to hear about everyones dogs that bury various treats and such. Its so cute and funny at the same time.

I hope this is the thread to share this story. Gabbi was able to pull a bag of ba ba q's the dehydrated lamb lungs off the counter (my bad). When I came home from work there was the empty bag on the floor. I picked it up called myself stupid and saw she was sniffing around in the living room. She brought out one of the pieces. I took it and said thank you, and she went off sniffing near her dog bed, there's another one. She hid some of them at some point.
I was shocked she didn't devour the whole bag.
