Default Problemor regular behaviour?

Ok, I didnt know exactly where to post this one. Lately, Peanut has been licking herself. Excessively. She licks her *special* spot. She will go at it for about half an hour and she seems over-determined to keep doing it. This occurs a lot at bed time when shes in my bed and it kinda grosses me out. Is this normal behaviour, or does Peanut have somesort of parasite?

I'll move this to the health forum, Nedim.

My first inclination is to think maybe she's got a bit of an itch - probably fungal or yeast in origin - due to the hot weather.

Get some Tea Trea Oil and some unscented neutral oil, like Neutrogena, and dilute the Tea Tree oil in the Neutrogena oil and apply it lightly around her "special spot" as you so nicely put it. If she's itching it should help stop the itch and kill what's causing it - plus she won't like the taste.

If she starts getting red, rashy or swollen, take her to the vet. Adding some probiotics to her food would be a good idea as well.

I was afraid you'd ask that, lol! Mordy can explain them a lot better than I can - I'll go check her site and see if there isn't something that will tell you what you need to know.

A live microbial feed supplement that beneficially affects the host animal. Claims include reduced early mortality, increased growth rate, improved feed conversion, egg quality and animal health (eg, prevent disease and/or aid recovery from illness). Lactic acid producing strains (eg, Lactobacillus and Streptococcus) are common components of bacterial DFMs.
