Default Coonhound Fans (and those who want to learn about them) Right Here!

I've heard from a couple people already in other threads who either are owned by one or who appreciate the noble coonhound. I must confess, if someone would have told me 5 years ago that I'd be in to coonhounds, I would have told you no way. No, actually, I would have said, "What's a coonhound?" I'm a city mouse, born and raised. I don't hunt (I'm a vegetarian, so sometimes I hunt the wild tofu) and I honestly don't know anyone who does. I never knew there was such a thing as a coonhound until The-Coonhound-Now-Known-As-Marlowe marched into the animal shelter I volunteered at. I went home and started researching because, honestly? You can't look into the eyes of a hound and say no. I was actually at the time in the market for a rescue bloodhound, so it wasn't too far of a leap, and boy am I glad I made it.

Behold, the hounds...

And Anne I'm looking in your general direction because I don't think I've ever seen a picture of your Maska! Let's see (and hear about) those hounds!

LOVE those pics. He is so gorgeous.

I am in the same boat as you..... never in a million years would I have ever thought I would EVER own any kind of hound dog. Hounds for some reason were my least favourite group..... no idea why.

But then we got this guy.....

His name was Teddy..... he was and still is the love of my life. He was a Lab/ Redbone Coonhound mix. unfortunately we lost him back in April in a tragic accident. But he really sparked our love of hounds.

Now we have Belle.... She is a Bluetick Coonhound. She is dumb as a box of rocks but she is so sweet she gives you a toothache. She is a wonderful dog.

Then we got Beezer who is (our best guess) Greyhound/pointer mix

I love coonhounds!

There was a movie showed at the disney channel that had a black and tan as a main characther, but I can't remenber the name of the movie.

The dog was a duke or something like it.

Here are some old photos of Mini the Beagle and Uncle Fred, the Treeing Walker Coonhound. I really need to get some more recent pics

I love my coonhound too! I believe they are the most underrated dogs out there as pets. Your Black and Tan has an expressive face. Now with Belle, we just need to find someone with a Plott, a Redbone, and an English and we'll have a full set for people to compare.
