If a dog is treated for ticks with advantix, does that kill the ticks AND repel them? Or just kill the current living ones? Do any of the meds actually PREVENT ticks? I know that one may just on and bite, but will any meds continuously repel/kill them for the month? How about Revolution?

Advantix is for killing AND repelling ticks. If is is used a lot in some areas the fleas and ticks can begin to develop an immunity to it so you might want to try something else if it isn't working for you. Revolution is a good choice and is also a heartworm preventative. Your dog has to be tested for heartworms before using Revolution.

I think this is the second time that Advantix was put on the dog so I am suprised that it isn't working at all.

That is surprising. Have you tried using anything else? You could try Frontline Plus, although that does not repel ticks, it does kill them.
